From Dream to Reality: How an Ambitious INJAZ Student Realized His Aspirations
Back

It was during elementary school when Malik's interest in computers began. His passion for computers created ambitions and dreams that one day he will have his own IT business. Malik Shishtawi's story with INJAZ began when he was presented with a chance to take INJAZ' Master Class course. The opportunity was appealing for him and he thought it would be good to learn something new and obtain a certificate from INJAZ. And so was it; he enrolled in the MC course and started the journey. Throughout the MC course, students are mentored by an entrepreneur; they start a company, create a product, market the product and compete in the market using marketing and business skills. "The Master Class course was very helpful for me in my career and starting my own business" says Malik.

INJAZ' courses had a big role in coaching and training me for my next move; starting my own business

The next phase of Malik's relationship with INJAZ was taking INJAZ' Leadership Course. Throughout the course, he worked with a team of students from Balqa University on a project that aimed to improve the bus stops of the school. The course, according to Malik, has improved his leadership, management and creative thinking skills. After that Malik became an active member of INJAZ committee in Balqa University. In October 2005, Malik had the chance to realize something he had always desired; meet personally with, and "touch" as he says, Bill Gates. The president of Microsoft had come for a session for INJAZ' students in the title of "Jordan Youth Vision Session" during the World Economic Forum at the Dead Sea , and Malik sat with him on the same table for the whole session.

Malik started thinking about starting his own business. The skills he acquired, the ambitions that grew bigger and the dreams that came true made him recognize that his dream of getting his business started after all is not that far-off. It was a big challenge for him to find seed money to start the company, but after a while he and his partner managed to solve the problem and started “MyTekPlus” with a small loan. The net worth of the company grew to about $40,000 after the first year. Recently, a holding company offered to buy a share in MyTekPlus, inject cash to expand and assign Malik as the company's business development manager.

Malik started as an INJAZ student, then a member of INJAZ committee, then became an entrepreneur and opened his own successful company. He is now an INJAZ volunteer and advocate, trying to help other students and give back to the community through INJAZ.
